I know we have a lot to work on. Specifically turning around the right way when we get to point B and wearing the proper attire 😬, but we are trying.
Emma decided to try it out with her older dog Oakley she did so well even with the puppies as distractions
Knox was able to work with Gunny. She loves to put the line in her mouth so we worked a lot on that today.
The videos of me and Abby turned out really bad and were pretty much unwatchable (thanks to my 5 year old 🤣). I’ll try for a better one tomorrow

ReplyDeleteThe videos were great! Yes, appropriate dog training gear should be worn whenever one is working a dog. Crocks, bare legs, etc., will become an injury.
I saw some very good first efforts.

Pointers:
* Walk the line at Point A /Point B. Do the turn footwork to the right. Stop, Then go again. This is training the dog to 'read the feet' and teaching the dog to grasp the cue a direction change is imminent.
*Drag the right foot backwards towards the dog's right flank. Never use a lifted foot as that will teach a dog to be afraid of the handlers foot.
*Remember, no words at all when doing Quiet Time OR ILL. The point is to train the learning dog to read our body mechanics.

Yes the alley is a road down the side of my house. Where the metal fence starts it doubles as our alley where we work our cows. (Loading/unloading, ear tagging, giving shots, etc).
