Abby & Lys Practice

 Here is a video of my practice exam with Abby this morning. Sadly I didn’t even realize I forgot to change my shoes until I sat down to watch it. 🫣🤣. That’s how my life is going at the moment haha. 

I have some questions and would love some feedback. My “winching” in this video isn’t great. I feel like if I keep my foot on the ground I can’t reach her. am I doing something wrong?

Also I tried to step into her when she sits too far from me. Am I doing it right? 

The other piece of advice I need is what to do if she wants to smell things on the ground during the Viktors test. If I can’t correct her (or Gunny) they get really carried away sniffing and want to wander. How should we handle that? 

Anything else you’re seeing that we should work on? I know my hands on the stand weren’t great 😂. I was trying to put my right hand out of her view (but it looks like I’m putting pressure on her back) because if she sees my hands there she wants any excuse to do the down (imagine that). You’ll love the ending of the video as well. Down is her favorite command and apparently her way of telling me today that she was done training 😂😂😂

Parking Lot Practice 12/13/24

 This may be the longest video I have ever recorded. 🤪

Today I thought we had a really good session! We worked on figure 8’s, diminishing circles and out of sight stays, and recalls! I wish we had had a little more time to work the recalls and decrease the distance so the little ladies could understand they needed to target the place boards, but aside from that small oversight on my part, I thought it was a good practice. 

Because I set this on a tripod and forgot about it, I’m sure there is plenty that can be skipped over. Sorry I did not take the time to crop it down! 😬

Thanks, Allysa and Knox, for letting my spend some time with you and being patient with my little goon-dog. You are both making such tremendous growth and doing it with such a busy schedule! ❤️ It’s really awesome.

Allysa, you are welcome to come and borrow ANY of the things we used today, if you feel like it would help with shaping the pups and encouraging them to work with you. Just shoot me a text and you can come pull it out of the back of my suburban. 😉

Abby working

 Today I decided to record the end of working with Abby. We decided to try some of the test and just see 😄. I do have a question. When I do the left turns with the leash up around my neck do I still snub the leash? Or pretend to snub it with my hand? Or just use my foot? Thanks for all your help! 

I also tried to copy the hand signal you give with the down just to try it.  Down is for sure Abby’s favorite command 😂😂😂

Tractor supply practice

Great practice the other day at Tractor Supply. Both Gunny and Abby worked hard in super high distraction. After about an hour both dogs were exhausted.
