I have been waiting for over 10 years

Ruth started her heat this morning, officially. Unofficially, Boaz has been saying, "Yummy, she smells GOOD!" for the past 2 days.  That means I am leaving for Draper tomorrow after my 10 am meeting with a prospective new student.

I will keep everyone posted on what is happening.  My prayer is that the TCI's are done by Saturday, and I am heading home then.

Here we go.....

 Allysa and Knox,

How did it feel NOT being here for a FOUNDATION Course lesson this afternoon?

Abby & Allysa Week 10 Exam

Here is Abby’s exam. It seems like whenever I turn the camera on she picks something new to ignore me on haha. Needless to say there are a couple recalls at the end of the video because I wasn’t satisfied with the first two. Hopefully that’s ok. She does it really well most of the time.

Knox & Gunny Week 10 Exam

Well it’s been a week. Knox has kept a great attitude all week even when things haven’t gone smoothly- today was the most discouraged he’s been. Gunny is still struggling on the recall with Knox. She can do it but for whatever reason she doesn’t want to. We set up a makeshift tunnel in the shop to practice the recall in this week. That helped. This video of the exam is the best she’s done all week. Not sure if it’s enough to pass but I think so?

On another note her sits have improved a lot and are needing much less corrections. Proud of Knox as he battles through these rough days with Gunny.

Knox and Gunny Week 9 exam

Here is Knox and Gunny’s exam. Gunny was super stubborn about the recall this weekend and it’s been so hard on Knox. We did the best we could to get this video. It’s not that she can’t do it or doesn’t understand. It’s getting her to want to do it. Let us know what you think

Abby & Allysa Week 9 Exam

I’ve loved working with Abby this week. In the video I was trying fix her collar before the figure 8. In case you wonder what the heck I’m doing 😅. My little one was being a big distraction while we did this haha. Abby loves him!

I also uploaded one of our practice sessions. Abby doesn’t love placeboards and this made us laugh. Maybe it’ll make you laugh too 😉

FC Week 9: The pieces now form into a specific pattern

Truth

Congratulations Allysa and Knox,

You have both worked diligently to get successfully to this point in the FOUNDATION Course. From here forward, for Weeks 9 & 10, your homework is also your EXAMS.  You are doing an AKC BN (Beginner Novice) run-thru for Week 9 EXAM and for Week 10 EXAM (to graduate from the FOUNDATION Course) you will be doing an AKC Novice run-thru.

Anyway, your Week 9 BN EXAM examples are uploaded. Have fun, this Week 9 EXAM is done in one (1) video.  You do NOT need the signs on the ground, just make sure you do all the required BN exercises.

Here are some old videos.

Have fun and smile, alot, knowing you are both almost FC Graduates!!  It took diligence, patience and perseverance to get to this point, you have BOTH DONE VERY WELL.

Gunny & Abby walk away Stay

Well we had an interesting week. The first half of the week I thought it was a 100 yard recall like we did at 20 feet last week 😅. Fun fact- Abby did an 80 foot recall with the sit in front and heel and everything. I was so proud of her but had no idea how we would do that at 100 yards. 😂😂😂 good thing Roxanne set me straight.

We had two days of state drill team after that and then 4 basketball games in two different towns today so these videos in the dark are the best we could do. We measured out the distance with my husbands measuring wheel, used all the shop lights, and two truck lights to make it happen tonight. The dogs did great. Hopefully you can tell haha.

Abby & Lys Practice

Here is a video of my practice exam with Abby this morning. Sadly I didn’t even realize I forgot to change my shoes until I sat down to watch it. 🫣🤣. That’s how my life is going at the moment haha.

I have some questions and would love some feedback. My “winching” in this video isn’t great. I feel like if I keep my foot on the ground I can’t reach her. am I doing something wrong?

Also I tried to step into her when she sits too far from me. Am I doing it right?

The other piece of advice I need is what to do if she wants to smell things on the ground during the Viktors test. If I can’t correct her (or Gunny) they get really carried away sniffing and want to wander. How should we handle that?

Anything else you’re seeing that we should work on? I know my hands on the stand weren’t great 😂. I was trying to put my right hand out of her view (but it looks like I’m putting pressure on her back) because if she sees my hands there she wants any excuse to do the down (imagine that). You’ll love the ending of the video as well. Down is her favorite command and apparently her way of telling me today that she was done training 😂😂😂
